A new kind of election
Amidst a tumultuous moment and a contentious election, Joe Biden was elected president, winning both the popular vote and the electoral college 306 votes to 232 votes. He flipped states that used to be largely Republican like Arizona and most surprisingly Georgia. The election broke records in terms of voter turnout, in which Biden ran the most successful race with 80 million votes while Trump also had a high turnout with almost 74 million votes. The people were truly galvanized even amidst a pandemic, so what drove them? Did voters vote pro-Biden or anti-Trump?
